The 12 Slots and Auto Entry

What this page covers

Know what each slot costs, what the full ladder costs, and how much of it comes out of your own pocket.

Source fact

There are twelve slots. Each one costs double the one before it, starting at 0.001 BTC.

10.001 BTC50.016 BTC90.256 BTC
20.002 BTC60.032 BTC100.512 BTC

40.008 BTC80.128 BTC122.048 BTC
Total cost of all twelve slots4.095 BTC
Arithmetic

Doubling twelve times from 0.001 gives a total of 0.001 multiplied by 4095.

0.001 x (2^12 - 1) = 0.001 x 4095 = 4.095 BTC

This matches the 4.095 BTC total printed in the deck.

Auto entry, and what you actually pay

Source fact

The deck marks slots 2 through 12 as Auto Entry. Only slot 1 is listed as a plain entry. Auto entry means the slot is bought using two of the fourteen payments from your cycle at the slot below it, not from your own funds.

Arithmetic

Your own out-of-pocket cost across the whole ladder:

Slot 1 entry 0.001 BTC Slots 2 to 12 0.000 BTC (auto entry) -------------------------------- Your cash outlay 0.001 BTC

This is an honest point in the programme's favour and it deserves to be stated plainly. Your direct financial exposure is 0.001 BTC plus transaction fees. Every slot above the first is activated by the smart contract itself, using two of the fourteen payments from the cycle below it, once the conditions in the code are met.

The condition attached is equally important. Auto entry only funds slot 2 if your slot 1 matrix fills with fourteen paying members. If it does not fill, you do not advance, and the 0.001 BTC is spent.

Read the ladder both ways. Going up, the ladder looks cheap, because each slot is paid for by the one below it. Going down, the ladder is 4.095 BTC of real money that has to enter the system from somewhere for one person to occupy all twelve slots. The next two lessons follow that money.
