What that means
Bitcoin (BTC) runs on its own network, the Bitcoin Blockchain. Bitcoin's network cannot run smart contracts of the kind described here.
BNB Smart Chain is a different Blockchain that can run smart contracts. This is where the Bitcoin Wealth contract is deployed.
BTCB is a token on BNB Smart Chain that is intended to track the price of Bitcoin one for one. It is often called wrapped Bitcoin. Holding BTCB is not the same as holding Bitcoin on the Bitcoin network. It is a token on a different chain that represents Bitcoin, and it depends on whoever issues it continuing to back it.
BNB is the coin used to pay transaction fees on BNB Smart Chain. You need a small amount of it in your wallet or your transactions will not go through, even if you hold plenty of BTCB.
The mistake that loses money. Sending a token to the right address on the wrong network usually means it cannot be recovered. If a guide says BEP-20 or BNB Smart Chain, that is not a suggestion. What that means for you
This is a custodial arrangement. Bitcoin sits with Binance and you hold a token representing it. That is a normal, widely used design, and BTCB is one of the longest running examples on BNB Smart Chain.
It does mean the token carries counterparty risk that Bitcoin on its own network does not: its value depends on Binance continuing to hold the reserves and honour redemption. Published reserve addresses make that far easier to monitor than a bank balance, which is a genuine advantage, but it is still trust in a company rather than trust in code alone.
None of this is unusual or hidden. It simply means that when a slot is priced at 0.001 BTC, what actually moves is 0.001 BTCB on BNB Smart Chain, and that is a token issued by Binance rather than Bitcoin on the Bitcoin network. Two different things, both real, worth not confusing.
